The Office + Russell = One Flippin' Awesome Party

Yesterday was a historic day. Not only was it the season priemiere of The Office but, it was also Russell Dibb's birthday. Russell is just this guy I know. Ha. ok, ok. We're dating. Anyway, yesterday was his 23rd birthday. I felt sort of bad because I had such a crazy day that I wasn't really able to do anything for him for his birthday. It was also my night to cook for dinner group so I invited him over to partake. After dinner, a whole bunch of us went over to Brian and Kirby's apartment to watch The Office. It was pretty great.
So, I know what you might be thinking: Why, if Russell is dating Alison, did she put a picture of Russell and Megan on her blog? Well, a couple reasons. One, the picture of Russell and I is funny-looking. And two, Megan and Russell have affectionally termed each other Megs and Rusty respectively. So glad to see the two of them are getting along nicely. :)

The best part of the whole thing was the cake we made. It was a three-way effort. I made the cake. Probably the easiest part of the process. Molly did the thinking. We were attempting to combine the theme of Russell's birthday with The Office. And she was successful at creating that image. And Megan, was the artist. Below, is the final product. Yes, be amazed.

I Live Here

Last week, by some miracle, I ended up with a free day. All my classes but one were cancelled and we had no soccer practice. So...Brian and I decided that we would go on a hike. Great idea, right? I spent the afternoon before our hike researching places in the area to go. We'd both been on all the run of the mill Provo hikes so we wanted something a little different. Finally, I found a good one up American Fork Canyon. It was awesome. We were the only people on the trail. I guess that's not really a surprise though seeing as how the road to get there was the bumpiest gravel road I have ever seen. Lee came along for the trip and we had an awesome time. I think we all got a chance to remember what a gorgeous place this is, and how much we love the outdoors.
I know this picture is blurry but...I still really like it.

That next Sunday, we organized three carloads from the ward to go up the Alpine Loop (just up Provo Canyon--by Sundance) to go on a drive and witness the beauty that is--mountains. Turns out, we all got a little tired of the car, so we had a small photoshoot. It was a good time. I live here. Isn't that awesome?

The guys. It might be hard to tell in the picture, but for some reason, they were all saying, "Arrrr!" Like pirates. Yeah, who knows. But, they are my friends so what can I do...

I know this picture is a little interesting but I'm kind of in love with it. Probably mostly because it appears that Megan has no body. Look?! Do you see that?? Crazy, right?

Back to School

The essential study materials: an ipod, gum, water bottle and of course, the book.

I am an Athletic Training major. I can't tell you how many times I have announced that to rooms full of people in the last couple weeks. There are a lot of people that aren't really even aware that this major exsits. That's because, it sucks all the spare moments out of your life. Ok, ok, maybe it's not that bad. But believe me, it's time-consuming. Athletic Training is a two year program. Each semester, you are assigned to work with a different BYU sports team. I know, cool right? This fall, I am working with the women's soccer team. And it really is fun. And I think they hate the time commitment as much as we do. So at least we're all in it together. We (meaning the other athletic training students and I) are required to be there Monday-Friday from 12-4 during their practices. And then there are games. Usually, that requires about a six hour period of time. It is a pain when trying to attend fun parties (ok, you got me, I'm not invited to many of those...) or hang out with friends. However, once you get past the time commitment, mixing up gallons of Powerade and filling up 30 water bottles, I think it really is what I want to do with my life. And on a plus side, I guess since they take up so much of your time out of class, they try to keep the workload in the actual classes fairly manageable. All in all, not bad. That's just a little update on school.

For any of you who are familiar with the BYU campus, all of my classes but one are in the Smith Field House. That's "lower" campus for lack of a better term. In years previous, I have utilized the Harold B. Lee Library with the best of them. But this year, going all the way "up there" just doesn't make any sense. As a result, I study in this hallway:

And this is how I feel about it:

You see, it wouldn't be a bad hallway but the weight room is right up those stairs you see on the right. So, in the period of an hour or so, about 100 people walk back and forth past you. For an avid people-watcher like me, that equals a huge hindrance to the amount of work I am able to accomplish.

I'm Back!

It's true. I have finally returned to the blogging world. I have mixed feelings about my return. In New Zealand (where I started my first blog, for those of you just joining in) I blogged out of necessity. I found that it was the best way to keep everybody back home, that had the slightest interest, updated on everything exciting happening in the land of the kiwis. And "everything exciting", really translated to everything. I mean, hello--it was New Zealand. I stopped blogging when I returned back to Provo for two reasons. 1) I lost my camera. I am a firm believer that really the only interesting/worthwhile part of a blog (or at least my blog) are the pictures. 2) I really was glad to be back in Provo, but everything I did paled in comparison to life in another country. Let's face it--Provo just isn't as exciting. Recently, a couple things have changed. Namely, I once again have a camera. Hallelujah! And also, I have decided that although my life may not be the most exciting or action-packed thing every to hit the blogging world, I still love it and would love to share it (or pictures of it at the very least) to any who might be interested. So hold on to your hats; because New Zealand or Provo, excitement or boredom, homework or bungy jumping--I am blogging.
